In this story, Ramona plays beach volleyball and dreams of playing in the Olympics one day. However, she is so intense that she makes it hard for her teammates. When their town announces plans to close the park, Ramona must forge new relationships with her teammates to save the park.
ABOUT JAKE MADDOX NOVELS
Jake Maddox has written a series of short, high interest novels based on sports stories. Their vocabulary level is appropriate for grades 3-5. However, the high interest levels, the age of the characters, and the sports themes make them ideal for slow, reluctant, or emerging readers in grades 5-7 as well.
This 12-question, multiple choice test is mainly based on plot synopsis and character motivation and can be used as a reading check. One question is a higher-order question based on theme. Answer key is included, and a vocabulary lesson and practice is also included.
Note: The Jake Maddox Novels are of high interest to junior high students because of the content which focuses on young sports heroes. If your student is a struggling, below-grade-level reader in middle school, these novels can be a successful path to achieving grade level going forward. They are also excellent for ESL English language learners.
