This website is dedicated to helping parents help their middle school aged children gain a higher level of academic mastery in grammar, reading, and writing skills that lay the foundation of success at high school and beyond.

In public education in Texas, which is our focus, the harsh reality and actual hard data prove that high percentages of children have already fallen well below genuine grade level grammar and reading comprehension by the time they reach middle school.

That will be documented elsewhere on the website as this effort continues.

Beyond those students struggling to achieve credible grade level success are those in the middle zone whose progress to academic excellence has been compromised by the State’s flawed annual student testing treadmill.

That testing system has devalued the academic integrity of performance standards for passing tests and achieving so-called grade level to the degree that so many parents can have no confidence that it accurately documents and communicates their children’s true academic skills. It’s a simple formula used by the State: lowering the passing and grade level standards means more students achieve those standards – particularly the ‘passing’ standard. However, those who achieve due to lower standards win a hollow victory.

Most children have been impacted. However, extraordinary damage has been imposed on economically disadvantaged, at-risk children of all demographics and ethnicity, but statistically dominated by minority students.

MiddleSchoolUpLiteracy.com exists to give all parents practical advice, lessons, tests on a full range of products that serve the educational needs of middle school students that desperately need to catch up, get ahead, or even envision that university degree four to eight years in their future.

Our independent diagnostic tests which include 5th through middle school math can be valuable tools for parents.
